Get the lighting right the first time

Most lighting complaints in shops and offices come down to three things: the wrong colour temperature, too few fittings spread too far apart, and a weak driver that fails inside a year. All three are cheaper to avoid at the planning stage than to fix after the ceiling is closed.
Panasonic and Halonix between them cover almost everything a commercial job needs, from 6W panels and 20W battens to 200W flood lights. Send us the room sizes or the drawing, and we will suggest the fittings and the quantity.

Planning rules

Four things to settle before you order

01

Work out the lux

A desk needs 300 to 500 lux, a corridor around 100. Divide the lumens you need by the lumens per fitting to get the quantity. An 18W panel gives roughly 1,600 lumens.
02

Choose one colour temperature

6500K looks like daylight and suits work areas. 4000K is neutral and easy on the eyes. 3000K is warm. Do not mix them in one room.
03

Match the fitting to the ceiling

False ceiling: recessed panel or downlight, and check the cut-out size first. Open ceiling: surface panel or batten.
04

Check the driver and the warranty

The driver usually fails before the LED does. Buy a brand with a manufacturer warranty and keep the invoice.
Common questions

Commercial lighting questions

A 120 sq ft office needs about 4,000 to 6,000 lumens for desk work. Since an 18W panel gives roughly 1,600 lumens, plan three or four panels spread evenly, not clustered in the middle.

Neutral to warm white, 3000K to 4000K, makes fabric, wood and packaging look natural. 6500K makes a shop look like an office. Put a spot light on the item you want noticed.

Yes. Bulk orders and distributor enquiries come to the same numbers, 9666637736 and 7569439710. Send the product list and the quantity.

The manufacturer’s warranty applies. Panasonic and Halonix state the warranty period on the product or its listing. Keep the invoice.

You can, but two white panels from different makers can still look slightly different even at the same Kelvin. Keep one make per room.
